High Surf Advisory Thru 10/10 6am

HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR EAST FACING SHORES OF THE BIG ISLAND…

.Surf will steadily rise along east facing shores of the Big
Island into Tuesday as a long-period easterly swell from Hurricane
Sergio located in the eastern Pacific fills in. The surf will
likely hold through Wednesday, then gradually begin to lower
through the second half of the week.

…HIGH SURF ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM HST WEDNESDAY…
The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a High Surf
Advisory, which is in effect until 6 AM HST Wednesday.

* SURF…5 to 8 feet today, rising to 6 to 9 feet late Tuesday.

* TIMING…Surf will steadily build through tonight, then peak by
Tuesday night. A gradual downward trend is expected through the
second half of the week.

* IMPACTS…Moderate…Expect strong breaking waves, shore break,
and strong longshore and rip currents making swimming difficult
and dangerous. Localized wave runup may cause beach erosion
during high tide.
Instructions: Beachgoers, swimmers, and surfers should heed all advice given by ocean safety officials and exercise caution.
