North Kohala Public Library is hosting a special jewelry-making class just for teens, ages 13-19, at 6 p.m. Oct. 29. Jewelry artists Sid Nakamoto and Gail Ching-Lee will demonstrate techniques for simple and beautiful jewelry design. Materials will be provided for participants to create their own jewelry piece. Space is limited, so call the library in advance to register at 889-6655.
From 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Oct. 29, business owners and residents can attend an informative workshop at The Kohala Center in Waimea led by Dr. Lauren Tamamoto of Hawaii Food Consulting. She will explain key changes and new labeling requirements for packaged food products, and how to evaluate food labels to determine if they are in compliance.
Participants are encouraged to bring a product label for evaluation. The cost to attend is $25, and registration is required in advance. For questions, email info@innovatehawaii.org.
