Message:  Coastal Hazard Message
National Weather Service Honolulu HI
…MINOR COASTAL FLOODING THROUGH LATE TONIGHT FOR ALL LOW LYING
COASTAL AREAS…
.Peak monthly high tides combined with water levels running
higher than predicted will lead to minor flooding along the
shoreline and in low lying coastal areas. Minor coastal flooding
is most likely around the daily peak high tides, which will occur
in the early morning hours.
…COASTAL FLOOD STATEMENT NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT…
* WHAT…Isolated minor coastal flooding.
* WHERE…Low lying coastal areas of all Hawaiian Islands,
especially along northern low lying coastal areas exposed to
northerly swell.
* WHEN…Through late tonight.
* IMPACTS…Flooding of beaches that are normally dry, minor
coastal erosion, and saltwater inundation.

Event:  Flood Watch

Message:  Flood Watch
National Weather Service Honolulu HI
…FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON FOR ALL HAWAIIAN
ISLANDS…
* WHAT…The possibility of flash flooding caused by excessive
rainfall.
* WHERE…All the main Hawaiian islands.
* WHEN…Through Monday afternoon.
* IMPACTS…Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be
closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas
may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to
rapid runoff. Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow
of streams and drainages. Landslides may also occur in areas with
steep terrain.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
today and Monday before moving west.
Deep moisture within an increasingly unstable environment
will spread across all islands. Thicker offshore cloud bands
caught up within southeasterly to southerly winds will
produce periods of moderate to locally heavy rainfall and
possible isolated thunderstorms as these bands come onshore
across the state. For Big Island and Maui County, the
greatest flood risk remains along southeast facing mountain
slopes as southerly flow more efficiently lifts rich moisture
up these slopes.
Lingering instability over some islands may extend the timing
of this Flood Watch into Tuesday.

Instructions:  You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

possible.
* WHERE…Big Island Summits.
* WHEN…From Monday morning through late Monday night.
* IMPACTS…Winds this strong can make driving and walking
dangerous. The winds can forcefully open doors and damage hinges
or slam doors shut, possibly causing injuries.
ALMANZA
