Overnight road closure for utility work in North Kona

HILO, July 30, 2026 – Hawaiian Electric crews will replace a utility pole in North Kona on Hawai‘i Island on Thursday evening, Aug. 6. The replacement will require an overnight road closure while the work is being performed.

Mamalahoa Highway, between the Hualalai Road junction and Halelani Road, will be closed from 10 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, to 6 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 7. The work is being performed overnight to minimize disruptions to the community.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and drive with caution when approaching the work zone. Flagmen will provide traffic control.
