UPDATE:
Until 600 PM HST. * At 401 PM HST, radar continued to show separate areas of heavy showers and thunderstorms over the windward Kau slopes and leeward areas near Waikoloa and upslope into the Humuula Saddle. Additional heavy showers with rain rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are expected through the afternoon. * Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to... Naalehu, Pohakuloa Camp, Puuanahulu, Glenwood, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Waikoloa Village, Volcano, Pahala, Wood Valley, Kawa Flats and Pohakuloa Training Area. This advisory may need to be extended beyond 600 PM HST if heavy rain persists. This advisory replaces the previously issued advisory that was in effect for portions of the island of Hawaii in Hawaii County.

* Until 430 PM HST.
* At 136 PM HST, radar indicated heavy showers and thunderstorms
over interior Big Island and along Kau and Puna slopes, with the
heaviest rainfall falling at rates in excess of 2 inches per hour.
The most persistent rainfall has been near Volcano. Additional
heavy rainfall is expected through much of the afternoon and may
affect the Hilo area.

Hilo, Hawaiian Acres, Naalehu, Pohakuloa Camp, Glenwood, Pepeekeo,
Keaau, Papaikou, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Pahala and Wood
Valley.
This advisory may need to be extended beyond 430 PM HST if heavy rain
persists.
Instructions:
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to
flooding.
Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don`t drown.
