Hazmat Incident Hilo Airport Post Office….Fire Dept Report

Airport Post Office evacuated of all personnel and customers. Strong odor coming from rear of
building.
HFD and Hilo Crash Fire responded to investigate a report of a strong smell in building.
Package with pungent odor identified and removed from building to outside loading area. HAZMAT team
conducted secondary and third sweeps of building and came back revealing no other obvious findings.
After consulting with Postmaster, package placed into isolation per USPS protocol and in their
custody with USPS response team to open package per their protocols. All units returned to quarters
