Hwy 240 7mm, Honokaa Brush Fire Report

Cause is under investigation.

Fire involved brush under the canopy of eucalyptus forest. Wind was coming out of the east, pushing the fire to the west, making it inaccessible

Initially, only access was a road on the east flank of the fire. Crews had to cut through a fallen down tree, and gain access through 3 ranch gates. Crews were unable to engage in firefighting efforts or determine size due to the inaccessibility of the south and west flanks. Next morning crews were able to walk the perimeter of the burn area to look for flareups and determine size. Burn area size is 10.6 acres.

Eucalyptus forest. East flank bordered by road, and West flank bordered by gulch.
