No tsunami
This is a Civil Defense Local Earthquake message for Sunday, October 10 at 12 noon.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) reports a 6.1 Magnitude earthquake which just occurred was centered 19 miles SSE of Naalehu in Kau.
PTWC confirms there is no tsunami threat to the Island of Hawaii. I say again, there is NO TSUNAMI THREAT to the Island of Hawaii.
As in all earthquakes, be aware of the possibility of after-shocks.
If the earthquake was strongly felt in your area, precautionary checks should be made for any damages; especially structural and to utility connections of Gas, Water, and Electricity.
