Former Warrior Chris Brown brings Hawaii linebackers into the ‘Lion’s Den’

HONOLULU — Penei Pavihi got the heads up from a couple of guys in the know.

Before coming to play at the University of Hawaii in the mid-2010s, defensive backs Kalen Hicks and Ikem Okeke were part of a national championship high school program, Bishop Gorman High in Las Vegas, where Chris Brown was the defensive coordinator.

    • Brown has attempted to instill an ethos of toughness in the UH linebackers that he calls the “Lion’s Den”
    • Three senior linebackers, Penei Pavihi, Isaiah Tufaga and Logan Taylor, have been counted on to set the tone in practices with scrappiness during drills
