Hawaiian Electric invites landowners to host clean energy projects
HONOLULU — Hawaiian Electric is reaching out to landowners on Oahu, Maui and Hawaii Island who may be interested in making land available for future renewable energy projects. This request for information would provide Hawaiian Electric with a better understanding of landowners’ perspectives on suitable and available land, according to a news release.
The initial step was through the company’s Hawaii Powered Initiative, working with communities across the islands to identify potential locations for future grid-scale renewable projects. An analysis of potential solar and wind renewable energy was done and shared with communities to gather input.
