Official Report….Hamakua Coast Near Waipio Cliff Rescue

Oceanside Cliff
HFD Co.8,, Chopper 1, Chopper 2, Rescue Co. 2 and the Battalion Chief responded to report of male who fell off a cliff. Delayed
access to Pt. due to limited vehicle access and scene being in a remote area. Upon arrival a 50 year old male found sitting on the ledge of
a cliff, approximately 15 feet down from top, with multiple abrasions and complaining of back pain. Pt. extricated by Chopper 1 to Co. 8
ground crew and then transported to Medic unit via X8 (off road pickup truck). Pt. transported via Medic 8 to the Queen’s North Hawaii
Community Hospital without further incident.
HFD personnel found a male sitting on a ledge
approximately 15 feet down a cliff.
Cause: Fall off cliff.
