Hawaii Fire Department reports a brush fire in North Kohala District off of Akoni Pule Highway (Highway 270) near Kohala Ranch.
Due to the brush fire, be advised:
- Akoni Pule Highway (Highway 270) is closed between the 6 and 7 Mile Markers until further notice.
- Expect traffic delays and avoid the area where possible.
- Motorists, please use Kohala Mountain Road (Highway 250) as an alternate route.
- An Evacuation Shelter has been opened at
Hisaoka Gym in Kapaau.
