Cause was accidental
Found approximately 1500 sqft single family residence, occupied by 2 people, able to evacuate pta., 450 ft down steep driveway from roadway fully involved.
All units responded to structure fire on Keaka pkwy and Orchid Pkwy. Access to property set back about 450ft. from road, difficulty terrain, total loss of structure and personal belongings. Prior to arrival, an 18 Y.O. male and a 19 Y.O. female suffered burns and were transported to Kona Community Hospital in stable condition. According to the 19Y.O. female, the fire started when the male party ignited a cigarette, in which he had gasoline on his body prior to attempting to fill a portable generator. Full extinguishment and overhaul completed. . Inspectors notified of the situation.
