Heavy smoke below highway at the 37mm from a fast moving brush fire. Winds pushing the fire mauka toward the highway
Multiple HFD units and HPD were dispatched for a brush fire at the 37mm near Paauilo. Upon arrival Co.8 found a fast moving brush fire about five acres in size moving quickly toward the highway due to windy conditions. HFD helicopters doing bucket drops along with several dozers were used to controll the head of the fire. HFD engines, tankers and brush trucks were used to controll both flanks of the fire. Total fire size estimated at 150 acres at time of under controll, no structures were lost in the fire. HFD units remained on scene through out the night to monitor conditions and ensure no flare ups get out of the burn area.
