…A FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH EARLY FRIDAY MORNING FOR
THE STATE OF HAWAII…
.A deepening upper level low will move into the Hawaiian Islands
from the north today producing slow moving heavy showers and
scattered thunderstorms across the state. This kona low will
stall over the central and eastern end of the state on Friday.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a
- Flash Flood Watch for the entire state of Hawaii.

Through early Friday morning.

A kona low will move over the state today producing slow moving
heavy rain and scattered thunderstorms across the island chain.
Slow moving heavy showers will increase the threat of flash
flooding statewide. -
Heavy rainfall may produce rapidly rising waters in area
rivers and streams. Strong runoff will flood roads creating
dangerous to impassible driving conditions. Debris in local
streams may clog bridges and culverts resulting in dangerous
flooding. Isolated landslides are possible.
Instructions: A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for flash flooding. Flash flooding is LIFE THREATENING. Do not cross fast flowing water in your vehicle or on foot. Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action if a Flash Flood Warning is issued. If you experience heavy rain or rising water, head to higher ground immediately.

MAUI AND BIG ISLAND…
…HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR NORTH FACING SHORES OF KAUAI OAHU
MOLOKAI MAUI AND BIG ISLAND…
.Large and rough surf will continue along exposed north and east
facing shores through this afternoon as a short-period north-
northeast swell slowly declines. This combined High Surf
Advisory/High Surf Warning product may need to be extended through
Friday afternoon if surf remains above height thresholds.
…HIGH SURF WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS
EVENING…
- SURF…Along east facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui
and Big Island, 10 to 15 feet. -
TIMING…Through this afternoon.

IMPACTS…High…Expect ocean water occasionally sweeping
across portions of beaches, very strong breaking waves, and
strong longshore and rip currents. Overwash onto vulnerable
low- lying coasts will be possible, especially around the
daily high tides. Breaking waves may occasionally impact
harbors making navigating the harbor channel dangerous.
Instructions: Large breaking surf, significant shorebreak, and dangerous currents make entering the water very hazardous. Anyone entering the water could face significant injury or death.

…WINTER STORM WARNING FOR MOUNT HALEAKALA AND THE BIG ISLAND
SUMMITS…
.Very cold air aloft over the islands will continue to bring
wintry conditions to the highest peaks of Mount Haleakala and
the Big Island Summits today. Expect periods of snow, with icy
roadways and very cold conditions. Wintry weather will also
likely persist on the Big Island Summits through Friday
afternoon.
…WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM HST FRIDAY…
- WHAT…Brief snow showers will be possible through Thursday
morning, with higher probabilities for accumulating snowfall
Thursday afternoon through Friday. Snow accumulations up to 6
inches could occur by Friday evening. -
WHERE…Big Island Summits above 8,000 feet.

WHEN…Through Friday afternoon.

ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Be prepared for significant reductions in
visibility at times, along with icy and snow covered roads.
Travel to the summits should be avoided until conditions
improve.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather
conditions are occurring. Strong winds are also possible. This
will make travel very hazardous or impossible.
