HIGH SURF WARNING FOR EAST FACING SHORES OF KAUAI OAHU MOLOKAI
MAUI AND BIG ISLAND…

…HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR NORTH FACING SHORES OF NIIHAU KAUAI
OAHU MOLOKAI MAUI AND BIG ISLAND…

.A reinforcing northeast swell will produce high surf along
exposed north and east facing shores today. Surf is expected to
gradually decline late Saturday into Sunday. The surf will likely
remain at advisory levels along east facing shores tonight and
Sunday.

…HIGH SURF WARNING FOR EAST FACING SHORES REMAINS IN EFFECT
UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS EVENING…

…HIGH SURF ADVISORY FOR NORTH FACING SHORES REMAINS IN EFFECT
UNTIL 6 PM HST THIS EVENING…

  • SURF…10 to 16 feet along exposed north and east facing
    shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and Big Island.

  • TIMING…Through this afternoon.

  • IMPACTS…High…Expect ocean water occasionally sweeping
    across portions of beaches, very strong breaking waves, and
    strong longshore and rip currents. Breaking waves may
    occasionally impact harbors making navigating the harbor
    channel dangerous.
    Instructions: Large breaking surf, significant shorebreak, and dangerous currents make entering the water very hazardous. Anyone entering the water could face significant injury or death. Boaters should be aware of an increased number of surfers and body boarders utilizing the harbor channel to access surfing areas.

Alert:
…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT THROUGH MID MORNING
SATURDAY…

.A low aloft will maintain wintery weather on the summits of
Haleakala on Maui, and Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa on the Big Island
of Hawaii through mid morning today.

…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM HST THIS
MORNING…

  • WHAT…Freezing Drizzle and ice.

  • WHERE…The summits of Haleakala on Maui, and Mauna Kea and
    Mauna Loa on the Big Island of Hawaii above 9000 feet of
    elevation.

  • WHEN…Until 10 AM today.

  • ADDITIONAL DETAILS…Roads near the summits will remain treacherous
    due to snow and ice. The National Park Service has closed the
    road leading to Haleakala summit. The road to the summit of
    Mauna Kea also remains closed to the public.
    PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
    Postpone travel to the summits until conditions improve.
