If there’s one thing Australians love more than a cheap flight, it’s a cheap flight to Hawaii. So when a fare this good comes along, you’ve got to pounce.

Hawaiian Airlines has just launched a sale offering $899 return flights from Australia to Honololu — but the real bonus here is the $15 return deal to Hawaii’s smaller “neighbour” islands.

Typically, a return flight from Honolulu to neighbouring islands such as Maui, the Big Island or Kauai could cost between $100 and $250, so that’s a solid saving.

And Hawaiian Airlines being a full-service airline, you don’t pay extra for baggage (in fact you get a whopping 64kg to play with), meals or entertainment.

The $15 sale comes as the airline celebrates 15 years of direct flights between Sydney and Honolulu.

Hawaiian Airlines’ first direct Sydney-Honolulu service took to the air on May 17, 2004. Back then, there were just 686 annual flights between Australia and Hawaii. In 2019, 1193 are expected to take off. In short, Australians just can’t get enough of Hawaii.

The airline’s $15 sale comes as Hawaiian tourism operators encourage Australian visitors to explore Hawaii beyond the main island of Oahu — with lesser visited islands Maui, Kauai, the Big Island, Lanai and Molokai attracting a growing number of visitors.

“Hawaiian Airlines has played a tremendous role in introducing Hawaii as a top holiday destination for Australians and providing travellers with more options to experience all of our islands or seamlessly connect beyond to the mainland USA,” Andrew Stanbury, Hawaiian Airlines’ regional director of Australia/New Zealand.
