Entire Airport Comes To A Halt To Honor Returning Vietnam Veteran
Before dying in combat in the Vietnam war in 1967, American Airman, Col. Roy Knight Jr., said goodbye to loved ones at the Dallas airport.
His remains were found recently and returned to the very place he said goodbye for the last time.

Col. Knight’s arrival and story was announced by the gate agent over the intercom.
Then the gate agent held the microphone in his hands, taking a long pause and a deep breath. He struggled to say what came next: “Today, the pilot of the plane bringing Col. Knight home is his son.”
The entire airport fell silent.

Canadian journalist Jackson Proskow was at the gate during their arrival.
“They handed out American flags to everyone at the gate,” Proskow said. “Incredible moment to watch.”

“People stood quietly at the window, wiping away tears, taking in a moment few rarely get to see,” Proskow said. “It was peaceful, it was beautiful and it was a privilege to watch.”
