This is a COVID-19 information update for Wednesday morning, May 6th.

On today’s report of COVID-19 the total number of people who tested positive for Hawaii Island remains at 74.  From this, 70 have been cleared as recovered with the remaining 4 quarantined at home and monitored by the Department of Health.  At this date, for Hawaii Island no one is hospitalized.

For your information, a drive thru testing will be conducted in Hilo today at the Hilo Civic Center.  Hours are from 9 this morning till 1 this afternoon.  Testing will also be conducted today in Ka’u at the St. Jude Church in Ocean View.  Hours are from 9 in the morning till 1 this afternoon.  Thank you, Premier Medical Group and Aloha Urgent Care for providing this free service.

A food drop off provided by the Hawaii Food Basket will be conducted tomorrow May 7th in South Kohala at the Waimea District Park.  Thank you to all that provided this very needed service.

The Island and State of Hawaii are doing very well in minimizing the spread and the impact of COVID-19.  It is so important to ramp up all the preventive measures so we can get Hawaii better and keep Hawaii Safe and stop this virus from affecting the beautiful lifestyle of Hawaii.
