Medic 1 was first on scene with a initial report of black smoke coming from the rear of the structure with possible propane tank involvement. Waiakea fire station personnel were next on scene with Central Fire Station calling on scene shortly after. Co.2 and Co.1 started an offensive fire attack, with Co.2 making entry to the rear of the structure. Co.1 made entry through the front door. Fire was quickly extinguished and personnel performed overhaul and salvage operations in an attempt to protect as much personal property as possible. Once overhaul was complete, scene was turned over to the fire inspector. Fire is still under investigation at this time.

Due to the quick response and hard work of Central and Waiakea Fire Stations, the fire was contained to the kitchen area.  A search of the residence found two dogs, unharmed and hiding.  Homeowners were very grateful that their pets had been saved.
