KE KULA O LAʻIE APPEALS CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT ISSUED TO CW LAʻIE LLC
LAʻIE, – The CUP Minor arises out of an appeal by Ke Kula o Laʻie of an issuance made by the City and County of Honolulu Department of Planning and Permitting. The CUP was issued to CW Laʻie LLC on June 17, 2020 in the basis that CW Laʻie LLC had conducted a complete and honest application for the CUP minor. DPP did not verify many of the requirements for this CUP minor before issuing the CUP to CW Laʻie LLC. As such, Ke Kula o Laʻie has questioned the Land Use Ordinance rules, Federal Aviation Administration rules, Army Corp of Engineers area impact, Department of Transportation impact, Natural Resources Conservation Service review, Office of Environmental Quality Control a HEPA review or an assessment on the Koʻolau communities master plan. The issues presented by Ke Kula o Laʻie are regarding the Land Use/Agribusiness, Kuleana Lands, Invasive Species, Soil Erosion, Impact on Community, Airspace, Historic evidence and its future use.
In addition, both the Marine Corps Base Hawaiʻi and the United States Army Garrison at Schofield on Oʻahu have been given Intervene status on this CUP in separate cases before the Zoning Board of Appeals, as this CUP would negatively impact their current and on-going operations.
