Hilo woman accused of carjacking tourist from Alaska
A 24-year-old Hilo woman was arrested and charged for the violent Dec. 27 carjacking in Puna of a woman visitor from Alaska.
A fingerprint on the stolen vehicle — a 2019 Ford Mustang convertible rental car, which was recovered the following day in the Waiakea Uka area of Hilo — matched that of Tiane K.F. Kapeli-Spencer, according to court documents filed by police.
Kapeli-Spencer was charged with first-degree robbery during a civil defense emergency, first-degree theft, unauthorized control of a stolen vehicle, theft of a credit card, unauthorized possession of confidential personal information, and habitual property crime.
