Flash Flood Watch
Alert:
…FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH SUNDAY AFTERNOON…
The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* Maui and the Big Island.

* Through Sunday afternoon

* A persistent trough aloft will bring the potential for a prolonged
period of rainfall to windward portions of Maui and the Big
Island. Increasing ground saturation from repeated heavy rain
bands will produce an increasing threat for flash flooding through
the weekend.

* Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to
elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Landslides may also occur
in areas with steep terrain.
Instructions: Be prepared to take action if a Flash Flood Warning is issued. If you experience heavy rain or rising waters, head to higher ground immediately. A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for flash flooding. Flash Flooding is LIFE THREATENING. Do not cross fast flowing water in your vehicle or on foot.
Target Area:
Big Island Interior
Big Island North and East
Haleakala Summit
Maui Windward West
South Big Island
Windward Haleakala

Winter Weather Advisory

…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR MAUNA KEA AND MAUNA LOA SUMMITS…

.A trough aloft will linger near the islands for the next couple
of days, bringing sub-freezing temperatures to the Big Island
Summits. Additionally, the trough will destabilize the island
atmosphere, and moisture moving in with the trade winds will
occasionally extend above the Summits. This will lead to periods
of freezing rain or drizzle, as well as snow showers through
Monday morning.

…WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON HST
MONDAY…

* WHAT…Wintry mix of precipitation, with periods of snow and
freezing rain or freezing drizzle.

occasionally be covered with ice.
Instructions: A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities and use caution while driving.
Target Area:
Big Island Summit
