Working brushfire on open grassland 1/2 mile north east of Mahana Bay. Remote access only accessible by off road vehicles.
HFD units from Pahala, Na’alehu, HOVE, Kea’au, Captain Cook, Central, and Waiakea responded to Brushfire in remote grassland area 1/2 mile northeast of Green Sands Beach. Coresponse from volunteer units from Discovery Harbour, HOVE, and Kailua-Kona. At scene found 5 acre brushfire with dry and gusty conditions. Larger vehicles with water supply staged on South Point Road. Fire contained and extinguished using chopper 1 bucket operations and off road ground units. HFD assisted by local ranchers with access.
