COVID-19 informational update for Sunday, August 22nd
Civil Defense message.
This is a COVID-19 informational update for Sunday, August 22nd.
For Hawaii County, the Department of Health reports 158 new cases and 1,610 active cases with 38 persons hospitalized.
The State and Island of Hawaii are experiencing wide spread community transmission of Coronavirus. We need to come together as a community and accept the kuleana to make things better. Please protect our family and friends by following the safe practices of wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing, limiting gathering sizes, and staying home if you are sick. You should also frequently wash your hands with soap and water.
On testing, the next community test is scheduled on Monday in Hilo at the Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium from noon to 5 pm. Due to demand, gates may close sooner than 5 pm.
Clinics and pharmacies continue to offer COVID tests and vaccination. Please visit the Civil Defense website for a calendar and a comprehensive list of all clinics and all pharmacies providing testing and vaccination.
