Official Report…Shoreline below Pepe’ekeo Animal Rescue of Calf

The Fire Department was notified by HPD’s animal control division of a calf that had fallen off of a cliff and could not be retrieved. HFD’s Rescue team that fortunately consisted of a Fire Rescue Specialist with extensive ranching experience, lassoed the calf and restrained it. Rescue Co. 2 personnel then used a high-angle rope rescue system to hoist the 200 pound calf 60 feet up the cliff face to a ledge where they were then able to walk it to a safe location. The calf was then safely released into it’s pasture where it ran off unscathed.
