OAHU…New cameras installed at refuse facilities
HONOLULU — New cameras are now installed at two of the city’s busiest refuse convenience centers located in Waipahu and Waianae. The Department of Environmental Services mounted the cameras in an effort to help the public avoid long lines when dropping off items, announced Mayor Rick Blangiardi and City Councilmember Brandon Elefante.
“We listened to the public and worked with the City Council to address concerns of long lines at a few of our refuse convenience centers,” said ENV Director Roger Babcock, according to a news release. “Our approach is implementation of live-streaming video cameras allowing the public to monitor the lines at these facilities and potentially avoid long wait lines.”
