Hawaii women’s basketball team makes Cal Poly latest bounce-back victim……..Kamaka Hepa leads Hawaii men’s basketball team to road win against Cal Poly
Every time the Hawaii women’s basketball team has experienced a disappointing result this Big West season, the Rainbow Wahine has come back with something better in their next opportunity.
After UH experienced one of its toughest stretches of the season, the response was proportional Saturday night: a 80-58 rout of Cal Poly at SimpliFi Arena.
It was about as good as Thursday’s 10-point loss to UC Davis. UH submitted the program’s highest scoring output since 2020-21 and its best assist count in six years, 22 on 29 baskets.
Thanks to a huge outing from forward Kamaka Hepa, the Hawaii men’s basketball team remained in striking distance of the Big West Conference’s leaders with a 69-56 win over Cal Poly at the Mott Athletics Center in San Luis Obispo, Calif., on Saturday night.
Hepa poured in 29 points, one off his career high, on 7-for-11 shooting from the field and 11-for-12 at the line to help the Rainbow Warriors attain a split of their two-game road trip to Northern and Central California. Wing Samuta Avea added 18 points and point guard JoVon McClanahan had nine points and a season-best six assists.
