The state Department of Health’s Public Health Nursing Branch is partnering with Longs Drugs to help local communities prepare for the 2023 Central Pacific hurricane season, which begins on Thursday.

From June 1 through 30, public health nurses will visit various Longs Drugs locations to advise shoppers on how to get their households ready for hurricanes and other natural disasters
As part of the effort, Longs Drugs will make preparedness supplies available at discounted prices
Public Health Nursing Branch chief Joan Takamori said preparations should include health considerations, such as making sure there is an adequate supply of prescription medication or keeping an extra pair of glasses in an emergency kit
