HONOLULU — U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development secretary Marcia Fudge announced a new $3.1 billion funding opportunity to help communities address homelessness during a two-day visit to Honolulu.

HUD secretary Marcia Fudge was in Honolulu to visit HUD-supported affordable housing projects and meet with local officials to discuss housing and urban issues
On Sunday, Fudge visited the Hale Kewalo Apartments, a federally funded 128-unit affordable rental housing project on Piikoi Street, and Gregory House, which provides housing and assistance to people living with HIV/AIDS
On Monday, Fudge participated in roundtable discussion with Hawaii’s congressional delegation, Gov. Josh Green and other leaders
