1,690 Hawaii residents eligible for student loan relief
HONOLULU — Changes to the Biden administration’s Income-Driven Repayment plans have resulted in 1,690 Hawaii residents becoming eligible to have a total of $90.2 million dollars in student loan debt eliminated, according to the U.S. Department of Education.
“Thanks to the Biden administration, nearly 1,700 people across Hawaii will see thousands of dollars in student loan debt eliminated in the next few weeks,” said U.S. Sen. Brian Schatz. “It will save people money and give them some real relief on their student loans.”
Overall, more than 804,000 borrowers nationally will have a total of $39 billion in federal student loans discharged over the coming weeks.
