BIIF basketball: Kohala wins! Waveriders routed by Warriors, Vikings handle Canefire
KOHALA 52, KEA‘AU 21
The Cowgirls established dominance from the beginning, holding the Cougars to less than nine points per quarter to notch a road win Tuesday night at Kea‘au HS.
Kohala outscored Kea‘au 17-4 in the first quarter, 12-8 in the second and 17-2 in the third. The Cougars finally got a leg up in the fourth frame, narrowly outscoring the Cowgirls 7-6 — but it was not nearly enough to make a difference.
Kohala was led by Mahea Pang with 12 points, and Kea‘au was led by Tiani Kaupu with seven.
Now 3-1 in regular season BIIF play (2-0 DII), the Cowgirls will return to Puna on Saturday for a 6 p.m. matchup against Christian Liberty Academy.
Kea‘au (2-2 BIIF) will next face DI juggernaut Konawaena High (4-0 BIIF, 10-2 ovr.) on Dec. 20 at home.
