Hawaiʻi County Hiring Summer Lifeguards

The County of Hawai‘i’s Department of Parks & Recreation is now accepting applications for summer lifeguard positions at County pools.

The pay for the temporary lifeguards, who are hired annually to support the expansion of swimming lesson programs during the summer, has been increased to $20 per hour this year. The contract period is May 22-Aug. 4, 2025, and the positions offer opportunities for flexible scheduling.

The application deadline is March 31, and applicants must be 18 years old by the deadline. Additional requirements include a current lifeguarding certification and the successful completion of a swimming and skills test.

For potential applicants who do not currently have a lifeguarding certification, the Pāhoa Community Aquatic Center is offering a Lifeguarding Certification Course from March 17-21.

The Summer Pool Lifeguard application, which includes more information about qualifications and requirements, is available on the Aquatics Section web page at https://tinyurl.com/HawaiiCountyAquatics.
