The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the Island of Hawaii through Sunday. A Flood Watch means conditions are favorable for flooding. Due to the Flood Watch, residents in flood prone areas should take this time to prepare for possible heavy rains and potential flooding
Civil Defense is conducting Damage Assessments. Residents and businesses are encouraged to report storm damage, to help local officials and non-profit partners better understand the extent of damage and its impact on the community. Please self-report by visiting the County or Civil Defense website https://www.hawaiicounty.gov/ or call Civil Defense at 808-935-0031.
For those experiencing power and internet disruption, the following locations have service; Yano Hall in South Kona, Mt. View Gymnasium, Shipman Park, and Billy Kenoi Sports Complex in Puna
Residents in Puna that were impacted by the recent storm, distribution of ice and water will be conducted at the Billy Kenoi Sports Complex and ice, water, and food at the Volunteer Fire Station in Hawaiian Acres, today from 1 PM to 3 PM.
If you reside in the Volcano area and were impacted by tephra fall or the recent storm, information is available today and tomorrow at the Cooper Center from 2 PM to 6 PM.
