Prepare for Drinking Water Needs Ahead of Approaching Storm

The Department of Water Supply (DWS), County of Hawai‘i, advises water customers and the public to prepare for their drinking water needs due to an approaching storm forecasted to impact Hawai‘i Island starting Friday evening August 14 and continuing through the weekend.  Severe weather and high winds can disrupt the electrical power grid, which can cause interruptions to water service.

Customers and those who depend on a continuous supply of DWS water are advised to review their personal situation and prepare accordingly.  Ways to safely store drinking water are listed in the Water Emergency Preparedness guide available online under the “Community” drop-down menu option on the Department’s website, www.hawaiidws.org.

If warranted, DWS or the Hawai‘i County Civil Defense Agency will issue future water messages regarding weather conditions and their potential impact on DWS customers.
