This is a Tropical Cyclone Information Update for Monday 08-24-2026 at 07:27 AM.
As of 5 am this morning Tropical Depression Moke was located approximately 715 miles southwest of Hilo and moving west at 14mph and producing winds of up to 35 mph.
Moke is expected to remain on its westward track and move away from Hawaii Island and continue to weaken.
Although conditions are forecast to improve, parts of Hawaii Island may continue to experience gusty winds and possibly heavy rains and the potential for flooding.
Hawaii Island remains on a Flood Watch through this afternoon.
Rainfall of up to 2-4 inches may occur in some areas across the windward and southeast slopes of Hawaii Island. This includes the Kau district where grounds may be saturated and areas impacted significantly by Hurricane Lala.
Please anticipate possible hazardous road conditions and drive safely.
Recovery efforts from Hurricane Lala continue and include power and communications restoration and road and highway repairs and clearing.
Motorists are asked to avoid the Kau District if possible to allow for area residents to conduct their clean up and recovery activities without interference and allow for essential road repair operations to be completed effectively and safely.
