Additional equipment, resources arrive to support ongoing restoration

HONOLULU, Aug. 26, 2026 – Hawaiian Electric crews continued to make steady progress across Hawaiʻi Island, restoring service to more than 1,400 customers since yesterday as additional equipment and resources arrive to support the ongoing recovery efforts.

Since yesterday, Hawaiian Electric has restored power to customers in Hawaiian Ranchos, Puako, Hawaiian Acres, Hawaiian Beaches, pockets in Oceanview, Kaloko Mauka, Holualoa, Hawaiian Beaches, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Orchidlands Estates, Fern Acres and Volcano. About 2,920 Hawaiʻi Island customers remain without power.

Additional resources continue to arrive on Hawaiʻi Island. A second C-17 cargo aircraft via military transport from March Air Reserve Base in California landed in Hilo last night carrying utility trucks, equipment and tools needed to support crews. The equipment will be deployed to assist Hawaiian Electric crews and Southern California Edison’s mutual assistance crews working throughout the island.

Hawaiian Electric representatives will be onsite today at Vibrant Hawai‘i’s Point of Distribution site at Pahala Community Center to answer questions and provide updates on repair and restoration efforts.

Estimated restoration times are based on the best information available at the time. Times may be adjusted due to access issues, additional damage, unsafe conditions, or need for specialized equipment. The list provided focuses on larger or more complex outage areas that are estimated to take longer to fully restore. The purpose of this list is to enable customers to make plans based on estimated restoration times. Keep in mind:

  • This list does not represent every community or pocket of customers currently without power on Hawai‘i Island – even if your area isn’t listed here, Hawaiian Electric is aware and is working on restoration.
  • Some locations that experienced little storm damage may still be without power because of damage to lines and facilities that provide electricity to their area. These may be hidden from view or located in distant areas.

Customers who are without power but see that their neighbors have electricity restored should check their main circuit breaker before reporting the outage. Outages should be reported to Hawaiian Electric’s Hawaiʻi Island Trouble Line at 1-855-304-9191 or report online.

Customers who experienced major flooding and have not had their power restored must ensure their main circuit breaker is off and contact an electrician to confirm their system is safe to re-energize once power is restored. If you have photovoltaic panels and battery energy storage systems installed on your home or business, consult your licensed solar contractor regarding normal and emergency operation procedures for your system.
