Two Aussies Were on Vacation in Thailand When They Saw Workers Struggling With an Excavator. So They Stopped to Help

This is the kind of thing that does more to improve relations between countries than 100 years of political meetings ever could.

Two Australian tradesmen ended up spending part of their holiday helping a group of workers get a massive excavator back up and running in Thailand.

The two men were walking along Bangla Road in Phuket on August 20 when they noticed a heavy excavator sitting at a roadwork site with one of its steel tracks out of position.

Local workers were trying to repair the machine, but the massive track was proving difficult to move back into place.

So one of the tourists stopped and offered to help.

According to footage captured by Romklao Chooklin, the Australian man, who was reportedly carrying his suitcase on his way to check into his hotel, joined the workers as they worked to lift and reposition the heavy steel track.

Another Australian tourist soon stopped to help, and before long, the vacationers were right in the middle of the repair effort.

The men worked alongside the local crew to lift the track, tighten bolts and secure the track assembly. They even helped apply grease to the machinery and checked the track’s movement to make sure everything was working properly.

And they didn’t ask for anything in return.

“They did it for free,” Chooklin said. “There are still plenty of lovely, kind-hearted tourists out there.”

That’s what makes this little moment so great.

These two men could have simply walked past the broken-down machine and continued on with their vacation.

Instead, they saw people who needed a hand and decided to give them one.

They may have been strangers from another country, but for a few minutes, they were simply a couple of good guys helping people who needed it.

And that’s a pretty good way to spend a vacation.
