Hawaiʻi Island Strong

This year, as we responded to Kona low storms, a damaging earthquake, and now Hurricane Lala, we have seen the strength and resilience of our community. No matter what disaster strikes, we can always count on our island responding with aloha and service through partnership.
Our response to Hurricane Lala is built around these values. Whether it is organizing an aid convoy (pictured above), airlifting supplies to residents (pictured below), or establishing Community Resource Centers, our team works together with nonprofits and community groups to ensure the response is coordinated and that our residents get the help that they need.
This collaborative approach led by our Human Services Branch will continue throughout Hurricane Lala recovery. Please also know that it is never too late to ask for help. By completing a request for assistance form you will help ensure that resources continue to be directed to community needs. You can also visit the Hurricane Lala CRCs established with community partners to get connected with nonprofit groups and government agencies that are providing recovery help. Together, we will remain Hawaiʻi Island Strong.
