HFD reports the wildfire near Kawaihae Road in South Kohala District remains active and firefighters will remain on scene throughout the day. Please avoid the area.
The evacuation order for Kawaihae Village will end at 9:00 am this morning. Residents will be permitted to return home, however, Kawaihae Road and Queen Kaahumanu Highway remain closed to all other traffic to facilitate firefighting operations.
The Shelter at the Waimea Community Center will close today at noon.
