This is a Tropical Storm Information update for Saturday 08-29-2026 at 07:19 AM.
The National Weather Service is monitoring Tropical Storm Lowell which currently is not presenting with any immediate threat to Hawaii.
As of 5:00 am this morning, Tropical Storm Lowell was located approximately 1370 miles east southeast of Hilo and moving west at 8 mph.
Lowel is generating sustained winds of 45 mph with higher gusts and tropical storm force winds extend outward 70 miles from the center of the system.
Although Tropical Storm Lowell is not posing an immediate threat to the state, it will be monitored closely, and you will be kept informed of any developments.
The National Weather had previously forecast this hurricane season to be more active than usual and the possibility of above average tropical cyclone activity in our area.
As we continue through hurricane season, residents and businesses are encouraged to review and develop preparedness plans.
