Kahakai Boulevard Shoulder Improvements Begin Sept. 14
The County of Hawaiʻi announces that the Kahakai Boulevard Shoulder Improvement project will begin on Monday, Sept. 14.
The Department of Public Works project will involve shoulder construction, driveway reconstruction, drainage improvements, and utility adjustments along Kahakai Boulevard from Punawai Street to Honu Street. The contractor is Jas. W. Glover, Ltd.
Work hours will be between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and the project is expected to be complete in August 2027.
Motorists should be aware of possible lane shifts or single lane closures with alternating traffic during construction hours. Lane closures will be limited to the hours between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Motorists are advised to expect delays, use caution when traveling through the area, and allow additional travel time.
The County appreciates the public’s patience and understanding as these roadway improvements are completed.
