County Planning Director Initiates Interim Amendments to General Plan 2045
The County of Hawaiʻi Planning Director has initiated interim amendments to General Plan 2045, adopted June 26, 2026, by Ordinance 26-46. The amendments are being initiated pursuant to the County Charter and Planning Department Rule 4.
The General Plan Interim Amendments propose targeted updates to Hawaiʻi County’s General Plan 2045 to clarify policies, address public and agency testimony, strengthen implementation, and make minor corrections.
The public and County Council may provide comments on the proposed amendments during a 45-day comment period ending Oct. 19, 2026. Following review of comments, the Planning Director will submit the proposed amendments to the County Council through the Planning Commissions.
