Civil Defense message.

This is a COVID-19 informational update for Monday morning, August 31st.

On today’s update of COVID-19, the number of active cases, on Hawaii Island, reported and monitored by the Department of Health is one hundred and sixty-five (165). There are twenty-two (22) new cases of Coronavirus on Hawaii Island.  These cases are now isolated and monitored by the Department of Health.  At this date, for Hawaii Island, seventeen (17) are hospitalized and, with sadness and condolences for the families, two deaths have been reported.  Both are from the Yukio Okutsu Veteran’s Home.

For your information, there is a testing scheduled today in North Kona at the Keauhou Shopping Center.  Hours are from 9:00 in the morning ‘til noon.  Testing are being scheduled for the Puna District this week.  You will be informed of scheduling when it is established.  Remember the purpose of testing is to identify positive cases as early as possible and in this way help stop the spread of the virus.  For a complete list of testing facilities go to the list on the Civil Defense website.

In efforts to control the spread of the Coronavirus, the Hawaii Police Department has been increasing their patrols and enforcement of the preventive policies of wearing face coverings, distancing and gatherings.  We need everybody to be responsible and follow these measures to keep your family, friends, and neighbors safe.  With your help, we can stop the spread of the virus to keep Hawaii safe.
