Hiker in Distress Off Mauna Kea Access Rd. Report

Hiker was located on a hiking path about 2 miles above Hale Pohaku, 1 mile below Lake Waiau at approximate 13,000 elevation. Hiker sprained both knees and unable to walk back to vehicle.
Hiker was treated for her injuries, put on a spineboard and loaded into a rescue litter for extrication. Due to the dangerous and rocky conditions of the mountainous terrain extra resources were required. Hiker then left the scene in their personal vehicle in stable condition.
Walking trail off Mauna Kea Access Road approximately 1 mile below Lake Waiau.
