VERY IMPORTANT WATER STATEMENT FOR NORTH KOHALA…..

DEPARTMENT OF WATER SUPPLY UPDATE
AFFECTED AREA: DEPARTMENT OF WATER SUPPLY CUSTOMERS IN KALAPANA,
PAPAIKOU, PAAUILO, HONOKAA, HAWI, MAKAPALA, KALOKO MAUKA, AND
PAHALA
This is a Department of Water Supply (DWS) update for Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
DWS continues to work closely with Hawaiian Electric to restore normal power to DWS’ facilities in
Kalapana, Papaikou, Paauilo, Honokaa, Hawi, Makapala, Kaloko Mauka and Pahala. Until power can
be fully restored DWS asks its customers in these areas to use water for Essential Uses only. DWS has
deployed potable water tankers or installed temporary spigots at the following locations for customers
use. Please limit usage to your essential potable needs only.
Kalapana:
 Near intersection of Chain of Craters and Ahia Road
Papaikou:
 Spigots located mauka/Hamakua side of Highway 19 across of Kimura General store
Kaloko Mauka
 Spigots located at Kaloko Mauka tank #2 below Hao Street
Naalehu:
 Parking area across from Ace Hardware
