13 HFD apparatus plus Coast Guard Cutter & Chopper

13 HFD Personnel

personnel responded to missing canoe paddler. Along shoreline

Cause unknown

Family reported missing 66 yr. old male single canoe paddler wearing white shirt black shorts. Person fitting the description witnessed by other boaters  launching from Honaunau Boat ramp @ 550am 6/5/21. @ approx 8am, Boat fishing in area, found unmanned 19 foot, blue white and red  canoe approx 1 mile outside of Honaunau Boat ramp area. HFD, Coast Guard ,multiple volunteers searched by air, boat jet ski and walking  along shoreline with negative findings. Coast Guard will search through the night and HFD will resume search at first light tomorrow am
