Coast Guard Busts Illegal Fireworks Shipments at Honolulu Harbor
HONOLULU — Coast Guard inspectors with several federal and state agencies joined forces to conduct a Multi-Agency Strike Force Operation (MASFO) in August to increase port security.
MASFO’s is a joint surge operation held regularly with local partner agencies to leverage synergies between different agencies’ capabilities while inspecting a large number of containers coming into the Port of Honolulu.
The MASFO focused attention on the enforcement of hazardous materials shipping requirements and shipping container material condition safety standards. The operation also helped foster partner agency interoperability, while improving overall safety throughout Hawaii’s ports and waterways.
