The Hawaii women’s volleyball team has company atop the Big West standings.

UH stumbled in conference play for the first time this season on Saturday night against Cal Poly, falling in four sets at a raucous, sold-out Mott Athletic Center in San Luis Obispo, Calif.

With the 25-22, 31-33, 25-21, 25-19 decision, the Mustangs snapped UH’s eight-game winning streak moved into a three-way tie for first-place at 7-1 with the Rainbow Wahine and UC Santa Barbara, a straight-sets winner over UC Davis.

The Wahine (10-6 overall), a night after struggling to a five-set win at lowly Cal State Bakersfield, had mighty difficulties overcoming the Mustangs’ block. UH was roofed at a 2-to-1 rate, 14 to seven, contributing heavily to 31 attack errors and a .145 hitting percentage.
