Civil Defense message.

This is a High Surf and High Wind Advisory message for Friday, February 24 at 7 in the morning.

The National Weather Service High Surf Advisory continues for windward facing shores of Hawaii Island from Upolu Point in North Kohala through Cape Kumukahi in Puna to South Point in Ka’u through Saturday.

A High Surf Advisory means surf will be higher than normal, shore break, and dangerous currents could cause injury or death.  Use caution when visiting these areas.

The High Wind Advisory continues for the Northern portions of Hawaii to include North and South Kohala and parts of Hamakua.  Sustained winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 50 mph are expected.

Winds this strong can knock down branches, blow away tents and make driving difficult.
